Chris Pyle grew up in Ventura, California and he knew early on that he would have a career in business. He had a paper route at 15 and sold Fuller Brush at 16. He graduated from Buena High School and attended Ventura Junior College for 2 years, playing on the tennis team during the second year. This is where he took his first accounting course, which immediately captured his full attention.
He transferred to San Diego State University to complete his college education and took a job in the building maintenance/janitorial industry. He used his work experience to help him write a business plan for one of his classes. The following summer he put his business plan to work and started his own building maintenance business, which ultimately paid the rest of his way through college. He graduated in 1982 with a degree in business administration/accounting, but he kept his building maintenance business for several years, specializing in construction cleanup, carpet cleaning, and commercial maintenance.
Chris finally decided to use his degree in accounting, so he sold his business and got a job with a public accounting firm. He became certified in 1989 while working in Los Angeles for a firm that specialized in the garment manufacturing industry.
Chris moved to Palm Springs in 1994, working as the controller for a time share developer, a CPA firm in Palm Desert for 2 years, and another in Palm Springs for six years. He opened his own firm in Rancho Mirage in 2003.
He enjoys working in public accounting, being able to work on more than one set of books, being able to interact with clients and learn how they run their businesses, and advise them based on what he’s learned over the years. He specializes in small business consulting and tax planning, especially contractors and building industry clients, business management for physicians, and audits of local non-profit organizations. His hobbies include tennis, golf, tuna fishing and mountain biking.
